HEADS UP DISPLAY (HUD)

Your HUD has been designed to give you battle critical information at a glance.

TIME, SCORE & BASE CAPTURE

Indicates the time remaining in match and kill score for each team. Bars indicate friendly (blue) or enemy (red) base status. Bars deplete as the relevant base is being captured. When in Conquest mode, yellow bars indicate neutral bases.

ENEMY ARMOR

Indicates your enemy’s current armor and structure status for each section of their BattleMech as is revealed upon targeting an enemy (R). Yellow indicates little or no damage. Orange indicates section is damaged. Red indicates section is critically damaged. Missing parts indicate that section has been destroyed. Enemy’s current weapon status and loadout is displayed to the left of the armor display.

COMPASS, BASE & UNIT INDICATORS

This shows all ‘Mechs within your line of sight or the line of site of your team mates. Blue diamonds indicate friendly ‘Mechs. Yellow diamonds indicate your lance mates. Red diamonds indicate enemy ‘Mechs. Bracketed blue and red diamonds indicate friendly and enemy base accordingly. Other yellow icons indicate the location of commander’s orders issued via the battlegrid.

TARGETED ENEMY INFORMATION

Press “R” to acquire target which then displays: pilot name, BattleMech type, distance to target and target health. This also uncovers the enemy paper doll. See #2 for details.

DISTANCE TO TARGET

Indicates distance to target in the crosshairs.

ARMOR INFORMATION

Indicates your current armor and structure status for each section of your Battlemech (front and rear). Yellow indicates little or no damage. Orange indicates section is damaged. Red indicates section is critically damaged. Missing parts indicate that section has been destroyed.

SPEED & JUMP JETS

Left meter indicates your current speed in KPH which is controlled by “W” & “S” or NumPad keys. Right meter indicates remaining Jump Jet (SPACE) capacity: when the meter is dark, the jump jet fuel is depleted. The fuel is refilled while BattleMech is on the ground.

BATTLEGRID

Birds eye map of the current level. Cone indicates effective torso direction and line of sight. Arrow indicates your BattleMech’s legs direction. Blue/Red arrows indicate position of friendly and found enemy BattleMechs. Yellow icons are commander orders. The map can be maximized by pressing “B” (see “Battlegrid” section for more info). The mini-map disappears if you are in 3rd person view.

HEAT INDICATOR

Meter displays total amount of heat generated by environment, walking or shooting weapons which is represented by a %. When the heat reaches 100%, your BattleMech shuts down. Press “O” to override shutdown before reaching 100%. Press “P” to power up after shutting down; this, however, will damage your internals.

WEAPON LOADOUT & MAPPING

List of all available weapons and firing groups. Weapons in the ‘circle’ section are located in the arms and aim towards the circle crosshair; weapons in the cross section are located in the torso and aim towards the large cross indicated crosshairs. The torso and arm weapons are locked to each other by default, but can be set to be independent via the Options menu. This can also be toggled while in-game by holding “LShift”.

Vertical bars indicate firing groups. Numbers in blue indicate which weapon is included in that particular firing group. Weapons are assigned by using arrow keys and “R-Ctrl”. Horizontal bars on the right indicate weapon cooldown times. Numbers on the left indicate the optimal range of weapons. The text color indicates whether the weapon is in a good range (green) or not (dark). Numbers on the right indicate remaining ammunition.

CONSUMABLES

Indicates consumable modules equipped. When the icon is bright or filled with color, the consumable is active and ready to be used. When the icon is empty or darkened, the module is not ready or has already been used. Consumable items have to be repurchased once used.

LANCE HUD

Displays teammates in your Lance: their name, health and position. The Lance HUD disappears when you are in 3rd person view.

The Battlegrid is a MechWarrior’s key to strategic planning and execution.

TAKE/RESIGN COMMAND

Toggle Command status. Take Company or Lance Command to issue orders to friendly MechWarriors. The command can also be resigned.

List of commands and their depictions available to be issued to your team.

BATTLEGRID

Shows bird’s eye view of current map and its boundaries divided up into a grid. Each grid section is labeled alpha-numerically, making it easier to target specific areas of the map.

BASES

Icons indicate the location of friendly (blue) and enemy (red) bases.

UNITS

Arrow icons indicate the location of friendly (blue for teammates and teal for lance mates) and enemy (red) units.

ISSUING COMMANDS

If you have taken command of your company or lance, clicking on a particular section of the grid will bring up the command menu. Select a command by clicking on the appropriate icon – the command will be placed on the map and your team/lance mates will see the issued command on their compass.

BATTLEGRID CONTROLS

Displays keyboard and mouse controls used to navigate the Battlegrid and its features.

YOUR TEAM STATUS

Displays the names and statuses of your team mates and their distribution between lances. A company commander can move teammates between lances.
